Is an Electric Kalimba Good For Stage?

Electric Kalimbas are quickly becoming one of the most popular instruments on the market. Whether you’re a professional musician or just a music enthusiast, an electric Kalimba is a great way to add a unique sound to your repertoire. This blog post will explore what makes electric Kalimbas so special, how to use them properly and why they’re quickly becoming so popular.

That’s why it’s the perfect opportunity for every kalimba enthusiast to try something new and different. While most players already have a decent instrument, most of them are relying on its acoustic characteristics.

The first thing that makes electric Kalimbas stand out is their unique sound. An electric Kalimba produces a reverberating sound that is both clean and melodic. It lends itself well to genres like ambient, folk, pop and even classical music. The instrument also has many advantages over other traditional instruments; it is much easier to carry and can produce sounds that range anywhere from light background melodies to full-bodied rhythmic tones.

Instead of trying to make the instrument sound louder, you can simply get a built-in pickup that allows you to run it through an amplifier or speaker. This way, your kalimba will no longer be limited by its acoustic volume—you can play as loudly as you want!

How Loud is A Kalimba?

Standard kalimbas are not that loud at all – ranging from 75-90 decibels on average. For reference, a normal speaking voice ranges between 70-80 decibels, and a small vacuum typically is around 75db loud.

How to Amplified a kalimba

it’s important to consider creating some kind of amplification system when playing an electric Kalimba in order to ensure everyone can hear its beautiful sound clearly. Whether you choose an amp combo setup or simply hook it up directly into your audio interface, having the right amplification system will make all the difference in producing great sounding music!

The pickup is a contact mic mounted on the inside of the case under the bridge (or in a similar location on a solid body). 1/4″ jacks allow you to plug in an amplifier or effects with kalimba chords. For recording, I prefer the sound I get with a microphone because the microphone captures all the airy sounds, i.e. wah sound and vibrato. Pickups mostly capture the surface vibration of the wood and about 20% of the wah-wah sound. If you are going to use effects, or if you want to be heard in a band, then a pickup is the way to go. Pickups do not affect the direct acoustic effect in any way. For a few extra bucks, I think it’s definitely worth it.

The KooKalimba K17MEQ is a beautiful instrument that you will definitely fall in love with. It is made out of mahogany wood, which is one of the most durable and gorgeous types of wood you can find on the market.

The construction of this instrument is incredible. The kookalimba used mahogany for the body of the kalimba, and stainless steel for tines. You can easily see why this instrument managed to get on this list, and it is both artistic and great sounding.

The resonating box has a clear, see-thru finish that allows you to admire the beauty of the wood used to create it. Moreover, instead of using stickers for marking each tine, the company engraved letters and keys to allow easier navigation.

When it comes to the electric part of the instrument, there is a 6.25 mm output that allows you to use a regular cable to amplify the sound. This will allow you to easily plug it into the regular amplifier, speaker, or any recording system.
